PD Bird Plumbing and Heating is a member of the Gas Safe Register and an OFTEC registered Technician. Please see below for why this is so important:

Gas Safe Register

Gas Safe Register is the official gas registration body for the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey, appointed by the relevant Health and Safety Authority for each area. By law all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register.

Gas Safe Register replaced CORGI as the gas registration body in Great Britain and Isle of Man on 1 April 2009 and Northern Ireland and Guernsey on 1 April 2010.

What does Gas Safe Register do?

The main focus of the Register is on improving and maintaining gas safety to the highest standards. We make sure all 123,000 gas engineers on the Register are qualified to work with gas.

We work to protect the public from unsafe gas work through;

  • a dedicated national investigations team tracking down individuals working illegally
  • regular inspections of Gas Safe registered engineers
  • educating consumers and raising awareness of gas safety
  • investigating reports of unsafe gas work

Gas Safe Register is here to help keep you and your family safe.

Who runs Gas Safe Register?

Gas Safe Register is run by Capita Gas Registration and Ancillary Services Limited, a division of Capita Plc

How can I use Gas Safe Register?

Before letting a Heating or Plumbing engineer work in your home ask for his ID card you can then use his ID number to ensure he is on the Gas Safe Register

OFTEC

The Oil Firing Technical Association was launched in April 1991 to construct a framework within which oil firing in the United Kingdom and Republic Of Ireland could operate with a greater degree of technical expertise and efficiency. One of its first priorities was to set up a system of training and registration for Technicians engaged in commissioning, servicing, installation with oil firing equipment.

It is an important step to acknowledge those in the industry who work to Regulations and Standards, and to help customers recognise that OFTEC Registered Technicians have had their competence independently assessed.
